Striker Ryan Richards today has joined Torpoint Athletic ahead of the upcoming 2021/22 campaign! The 29 year old joins the club from Western League side Plymouth Parkway!
The striker is experienced at this level, playing for Saltash United not long ago, where he caught the eye with his impressive, clinical finishing. Ryan hosts a wide variety of well sought after attributes - one of which is his ability to use both feet. Despite being right footed, his goals last season varied in complexity - forcing him therefore to use either foot, which he did so with ease. Confident from the penalty spot, it is no wonder that manager Dean Cardew has decided to pick up the striker following his departure from Parkway.
A fan favourite a Bolitho Park, Richards joined Parkway for a second spell last season following a prolific spell at step six with Saltash United, where he netted 45 goals for the Ashes. His spell with Saltash is probably best known by the Point faithful for his 4 goals as United knocked Athletic out of the FA Vase in October 2019.He silenced the critics in the Western Division with clinical finishing, and a superb conversion rate from 12 yards - proving himself as an integral part of an impressive Parkway side. Point fans may remember Cardew recruiting Richards last season, as reliable cover, whilst he was dedicated to signing for Parkway. However, after departing Parkway on the 28th of May, it is a huge coup for the Point and no doubt he will form a formidable strike partnership with Curtis Damerell!
Welcome to Torpoint Athletic, Ryan Richards!
