On Tuesday night Torpoint jumped from fourth place to top of the SWPL Premier Division East with a fine second half display where they scored five goals against ten men Newton Abbot Spurs.
The visitors were shocked by taking a second minute lead when a long cross found Ryan Richards to shoot low with an angled shot.
Ten minutes later Callum Thompson fired a 20 yard curling shot which was well saved by home keeper Kit Glanville.
On the 19th minute Spurs equalised when they had some good possession, with some good build up play, Owen Green curled a 15 yard shot home past visiting keeper Jason Peters.
Four minutes later the hosts took the lead when Finn Pearse headed home from 10 yards after a good pinpoint cross.
On the 34th minute, Torpoint levelled the scores when Paul Heveran found Curtis Damerell to head home, past Glanville from a corner.
With five minutes remaining of the first half, Spurs where reduced to ten men when Brad Crocombe was shown a straight red for a tackle on Torpoint’s Mike Lucas. The decision from the referee took a while as he had to consult both assistants.
In second half the visitors made the most of their extra man putting pressure on right from the start.
On the 57th minute, the visitors took the lead when Bradley Robins shot home from 15 yards after a great cross in by Paul Heveran.
Eight minutes later, Torpoint doubled their advantage when Ryan Richards received a through ball to shoot home from 8 yards.
On the 69th minute ‘The Point’ extended their lead when Lewis Pacey, shot a low hard drive from 25 yards.
It got worse for the home side as on the 77th minute a Paul Heveran free kick on the edge area low and hard went under the Spur’s wall as the they jumped and past a stationary Glanville.
Then with seven minutes remaining, Callum Thompson shot home after being set up by James Forrest for Torpoint’s seventh and final goal of the evening.
