Torpoint AFC continued their 100% start to the 2021/22 campaign with this hard fought victory at Lords Meadow on Saturday afternoon to make it four wins from four matches
On the 11th minute the home side had their first chance of the match when Guy Allum crossed the ball on to Sam Stapleton to shoot just wide of the post.
Six minutes later the visitors took the lead when Pete Bradley shot home from close range from a Paul Heveran corner.
On the 20th minute Daniel Koita for the hosts shot from distance only for the visiting keeper Jason Peters to put the ball around the post.
Five minutes later Darren Hicks for Torpoint headed from close range for home keeper Michael Searle to save well.
Nine minutes after the restart James Close took a shot in the area for Crediton for Peters to clear just off the line, the home side appealed to the match officials that the ball had crossed the line, but the appeals where waved away by the referee and his assistant.
Just after the hour mark, Paul Heveran crossed the ball to Gary Hird to head just wide for the visitors.
Then four minutes later, Hird raced clear of the home defence and shot home from 15 yards with a clinical finish to double Torpoint’s lead.
With 15 minutes remaining Richard Groom for the hosts shot low from just inside the area for Peters to make a fine low save.
On the 85th minute, Crediton had a penalty for a foul in area by the visitors. Steve Goss took the penalty for Peters to parry the ball away for Richard Groom to pick up the loose ball to shoot home the rebound to make it a edgy finish to the match.
Then with a minute remaining, Darren Hicks for the visitors was sent off for remarks made to the referee.
